Mural Commission

We’re thrilled to announce that the incredibly talented Ellie Mills (aka Ellietype) will be joining us for our Winter Development Programme. Ellie won the commission to produce a mural in our new Writers’ Studio at An Tobar, kindly supported by The Charlotte Aitken Trust.

Ellie, a Glasgow-based signwriter and visual artist, is renowned for blending traditional techniques with retro typography, bold colours, and street art influences. Their work is joyful, thought-provoking, and rooted in a queer, femme perspective.

What’s Ellie Creating?
Ellie’s mural for our Writers’ Studio is inspired by curiosity—bringing together storytelling, vibrant patterns, movement, and colour to spark imagination and infuse the space with warmth and energy.

Ellie says: “I’m thrilled to contribute to the vibrant creative community on Mull. I hope my work inspires curiosity and joy for everyone who visits!”
