The world-famous Doric String Quartet bring eight young artists embarking on their careers for a week of intensive collaboration, offering eight concerts across Mull and Iona. Each performance includes members of the lead quartet playing alongside musicians of much less experience as equals. We think this is the most enlightening week of their entire training, and the warm reception our audiences give them and the magical beauty that drew Mendelssohn to the islands are major factors in our success over more than thirty years.
We present music from the whole range of classical chamber music, from Haydn to the present day, and this year we hear the Doric's first performance of Mendelssohn's Octet on Mull. Every concert is pay-what-you-decide, in common with the policy of An Tobar and Mull Theatre, and, to be sure of getting a seat, you should check out the 'Mendelssohn on Mull' events on Eventbrite.
