Welcome to the Charlotte Aitken Writer's Studio and Production Suite at An Tobar and Mull Theatre—two inspiring, purpose-designed spaces generously supported by the Charlotte Aitken Trust.
Both spaces are available to use free of charge.
Charlotte Aitken Writer’s Studio
Step into a welcoming sanctuary crafted especially for writers. The Writer's Studio provides a peaceful, dedicated space to nurture creativity and inspiration. Whether you are crafting a novel, drafting a screenplay, or exploring poetry, you'll find this environment perfect for creative contemplation and productivity.
Features include:
Dedicated desk space in a calm, focused environment.
A beautifully bespoke mural inspired by the birdsong of Mull, providing an evocative backdrop to your creativity.
A thoughtfully curated library to spark your imagination and enrich your practice.
Comfortable seating and inspiring views of the surrounding natural landscape.
Tea and coffee-making facilities to keep you refreshed throughout your writing sessions.
Free Wi-Fi available upon request.
The Writer's Studio welcomes writers at any stage of their career—from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals.
Booking Information:
The studio has four desks available, bookable in half-day slots (morning: 10 am – 1 pm, afternoon: 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm). Desks are free to use and can be booked up to one month in advance, with block bookings limited to five consecutive days.

Charlotte Aitken Production Suite
The Charlotte Aitken Production Suite offers creatives access to state-of-the-art audio recording facilities, ideal for projects in radio, multimedia storytelling, podcasts, sound design, film editing and music.
Key features:
State-of-the-art audio recording and multimedia editing facilities.
Ideal for non-commercial multimedia projects (commercial projects by prior arrangement).
Free induction session and training to learn to use the equipment.
Booking Information:
Sessions are available in half-day blocks (morning: 10 am – 1 pm, afternoon: 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm), free of charge. To ensure fair access, bookings are limited to five consecutive days.
