Anyone who heard NYCOS' superb elite chamber choir at its inaugural concert in last year’s Lammermuir Festival will want to hear them again. And this concert will surely demonstrate the full, thrilling range of their dynamic and tonal qualities with music by Estonian composer Urmas Sisask, American Stacy Garrop, and Danish composer Per Nørgård whose Wie ein Kind (Child-like) is a deeply moving setting of poems written by a patient at a psychiatric hospital.
British music is represented by James MacMillan’s powerful Divo Aloysia Sacrum and Britten’s enduringly popular wartime setting of a text by WH Auden, Hymn to St Cecilia.
